  11 This Legal and Policy issues DevRoom is designed to cover topics of
  12 Free Software licensing and legal policy well beyond the basic issues.
  13 Attendees should be aware of the basics of copyright, copyleft,
  14 licensing, and patents.  The goal for this DevRoom is to foster
  15 in-depth discussion about complex policy, legal and licensing issues
  16 that face the software freedom community today.

  18 Proposals are sought for talks, panel discussions, and guided
  19 discussion groups that can investigate these sorts of issues.

  21 Any proposal topic fitting the above description is welcome, but might
  22 include:

  24 * Copyleft licensing models and how they relate to business
  25   models.  Are there some business models that are license-permissible
  26   but bad for community building?  On the other side, does your
  27   license choice limit or expand your community?

  29 * Copyleft enforcement and compliance planning from a developer
  30   perspective.  What is the future of GPL enforcement?  Is it working?
  31   What is its impact on adoption of copyleft?
  32
  33 * Copyleft license compatibility.  What are the challenges of code
  34   base merges when various licenses are in use?  How does a
  35   compatibility analysis between licenses work?
  36
  37 * Is GPLv2-only vs. GPLv2-or-later bifurcating the copyleft
  38   communities?

  40 * Copyright assignment and contributor license agreements. What are the
  41   issues to consider as a project and as a developer?

  43 As each talk will only be 30 min (including setup and brief Q/A), it
  44 is highly advisible to define a set of terms and create a set of
  45 links giving background information to your subject.  Attendees
  46 will be encouraged to review this prerequisite material to
  47 be well prepared to jump right in to your material.

  49 We have a one hour panel with all the speakers for
  50 general Q/A at the end of the day. This will be an unique
  51 opportuntity to dive deeply into the interesting issues
  52 uncovered during the day.

  55 to cover this event, but please indicate in your submission if
  56 you are willing to be video recorded.
